Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar: Arjun Kapoor unveils his look as a Delhi cop from Dibakar Banerjee's film

Arjun Kapoor has unveiled the first look from his next, Dibakar Banerjee’s Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, on Twitter. He plays a 30 year old Haryanavi cop from Delhi Police’s special unit in the film.

Arjun’s character wants a promotion so he can play a more responsible role in law enforcement and needs to undergo special training to notch up high-profile cases. In preparation for Arjun’s cop avatar, Dibakar engaged the actor in extensive, in-depth research for about 10 days. The study involved thorough observations and close interactions with the police force in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). “Dibakar wanted me to understand the world the character comes from. I also wanted to understand the character’s entire journey. I wanted to know his psychology and why he is the way he is, and why he makes certain extreme choices,” said Arjun, as per a press release issued by the makers. Arjun and Dibakar spent ten days travelling across Delhi and NCR to attend workshops for cadet training, weapon handling, physical exercises, and fitness training, besides going through an orientation for crisis and high-risk conflict situations. The actor also spent between six to nine hours interacting with the police at their homes and talking with their families. “I got to meet so many fascinating people. Actually, I have been preparing almost for three months now. I am devoting more time for the prep than shooting it. I knew that if I understood this world, I would be able to play the character better,” says Arjun. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar also stars Parineeti Chopra. It is produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films and is slated to release on 3 August, 2018. (Also read: Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar to deal with the issue of Bharat vs India, says Arjun Kapoor)
