Sacred Games: Radhika Apte roped in to play female lead opposite Saif Ali Khan?

Sacred Games, the first Netflix Orginals series from India has been making news ever since the news of its production was announced. The latest detail about the Saif Ali Khan starrer is that Radhika Apte has been roped in to play the female lead of the show, according to a Mid-Day report. The web-series will also star Nawazuddin Siddiqui alongside Khan and Apte. It is based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel Sacred Games by Indian author Vikram Chandra. Shot on location in India, this Hindi-English series will be produced in partnership with Phantom Films, one of India’s leading production houses. It will be available to Netflix members globally upon completion, a statement said. “I’m confident that all the colour and vitality and music of the fictional world I’ve lived with for so long will come fully alive on the large-scale canvas provided by Netflix. I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and Phantom Films,” said Chandra according to a report. When talking about his upcoming project Khan said, “Sacred Games happened at a time when I wanted to produce something for the web platform. I thought a cop/mafia story would be really good and found out that Phantom (Films) had the rights to something on similar lines. With no censorship and no kind of control, you’re a creative equal on this platform. And that’s what makes it so exciting! Working with Vikram, Aditya and Phantom on this is going to be one amazing experience. I particularly love the fact that it’s based on a book.
