Actor Rishi Kapoor has entered into a row with Daffodil Cooperative Housing Society over construction on his Pali Hill land in Bandra, Mumbai. While the society alleged that he obtained permissions illegally to build a tower on his land, Kapoor plans to sue the society for defamation. File Photo/News 18[/caption] Mumbai Mirror reports that the society sent the actor a letter 10 days ago asking him to stop the construction on his Pali Hill land. The letter alleged not only that the vibrations from the excavation work has put the entire structure of the society at risk but also that Kapoor had obtained permissions to do so illegally. Kapoor, however, clarifies that he went through the regular process of obtaining permission just like any other law-abiding citizen. Therefore, he plans to sue the society for defaming him. The Mumbai Mirror report quotes him saying, “I am a law-abiding citizen and went through the grind like others to obtain permissions. We are aware of a recent builder’s interest in Daffodils. But these are conjectures until proven. I have already spoken to my lawyers and will be filing a defamation suit against the society for defaming me and doing character assassination.” The residents of Daffodil Cooperative Housing Society have come out in the support of the actor. They claimed that the letter was sent to Kapoor without informing them. Also, they requested the chairman and secretary of the society to send an apology letter to Kapoor, as stated in the same report. It also quotes Moti Khanna, a resident of the society assigned the task of surveying the land, saying, “All this was cleared long ago when Rishi Kapoor bought the bungalow. There were some issues and he had written twice to the society to sort out the issues. No one replied at the time. Then why is the society objecting now when he has started the construction? I myself had surveyed the land and he is using only that part of the land which rightfully belongs to him.”
