Mulk: Rishi Kapoor's character reportedly based on real-life story of a terrorist's father
A social thriller based on real life struggles of common people, Mulk has already created buzz across Bollywood. Be it Rishi Kapoor’s brand new avatar, the star cast or the shooting locations, everybody is eagerly waiting to see what the film has to offer. Mulk will also feature Taapsee Pannu, Prateik Babbar and Rajat Kapur.
The shooting has already started in Varanasi and Lucknow, and the film is expected to hit the screens early next year. The experimental social thriller has been produced by Benaras Media Works. Screenplay writer-producer Mushtaq Shiekh will be the associate producer of Mulk. Anubhav Sinha will be directing this movie after his last directorial venture Tum Bin 2.
The plot of the film will revolve around the story of a joint family in a small town in India who are fighting to reclaim their honour after being dragged into a controversy. The story seems to be exciting but there are more interesting parts.
DNA reports the story is actually based on a real life instance where a father refused to accept the dead body of his son, who was allegedly a terrorist.
Earlier this month, Rishi Kapoor shared his first look from the upcoming movie and everybody was surprised to see his new avatar. The veteran actor looked quite intriguing with a serious look on his face. With a full grown beard, the he had short hair as he looked at someone with anger.

After experimenting with a commercial film like Judwaa 2, Taapsee Pannu has taken up a challenging role in this film. Taapsee’s character in Mulk will be helping a joint family reclaim their honour. She will be seen in a lawyer’s role to solve the mystery behind a death. Rishi Kapoor will be playing Taapsee’s father-in-law in the film while Neena Gupta will be her mother-in-law.
