Madhavan injured on sets of upcoming period drama co-starring Saif Ali Khan; opts out of project
R Madhavan, who was supposed to join his Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein co-actor Saif Ali Khan for Navdeep Singh's upcoming period drama, has opted out of the film. The actor has reportedly undergone a shoulder surgery and has been advised to stay away from any action scenes for at least two months.
Madhavan was supposed to join Saif this month at the outdoor shoots in Rajasthan. The Breathe actor, who has been taking horse riding training at Mumbai’s Amateur Riders Club, got severely injured at the gym and had to opt out of the film.
Madhavan took to Instagram and posted the news of his surgery. In the picture posted a week ago by the actor, he was spotted lying on a hospital bed.
On Monday, he posted a picture after he stepped out of home after seven days.
Madhavan confirmed the news and told Mumbai Mirror, “I am injured badly and out of any film shoot for the next two months. Right now I’m just taking total rest.”
"Yes, I had to opt out as I had to do action in that. I am feeling so miserable because I was so looking forward to joining that team and working with them," Madhavan told IANS.
On the yet untitled project, Madhavan said: "It is a lovely story and a script and on top of that it is an Aanand L Rai's production. I really wanted to be a part of it. I am hugely disappointed that I am not able to do it. (Working with Saif again) would have been really awesome. The injury kind of ruined everything."
On the other hand, Saif is already shooting horse riding scenes in Rajasthan's Desuri. The team will be having long shooting schedules in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai too. Sonakshi Sinha has also joined the team in Desuri for a cameo. Anurag Kashyap's Mukkabaaz-fame Zoya Hussain will be seen playing the leading lady opposite Saif in this Aanand L Rai production. The film is set in the backdrop of the battle of Buxar and Saif will be seen playing an Afghan warrior in the film.
