Lucknow Central first look: Farhan Akhtar poses for mugshot; throwback to Arjun Rampal's Daddy?
Farhan Akhtar's character in Lucknow Central forms a band with his fellow inmates. Similarities to Habib Faisal's upcoming film Qaidi Band?
The first look of Ranjit Tiwari's directorial debut Lucknow Central is out. Though it is little of what we have not seen before, it has nonetheless piqued the curiosity of Farhan Akhtar fans as they have not witnessed him in such an avatar in the past.
Akhtar tweeted the first look of the film in which he is posing for the mugshot as an inmate in Lucknow Central jail. While his colourful shirt adds quirk, his rather simple sleeveless sweater balances it out with its modesty. The hint of tilak on his forehead and his noticeably oily hair further add to his small town persona.

While the first look has been compared to that of Asim Ahluwalia's crime biopic Daddy, featuring Arjun Rampal almost in the same setting, its story has been compared to that of Habib Faisal's upcoming musical Qaidi Band.
The Times of India reports that the film chronicles Akhar's struggle to escape life imprisonment. He also forms a rock band with his fellow inmates in the process. The trailer of Qaidi Band, introducing Ranbir Kapoor's cousin Aadar Jain and Anya Singh, treads on the same path.
Lucknow Central also stars Diana Penty, Gippy Grewal, Ronit Roy, Deepak Dobriyal and Rajesh Sharma. It is produced by Nikkhil Advani's Emmay Entertainment and is slated to release on 15 September.
