Jagga Jasoos: Ranbir Kapoor accepts fault for axing Govinda's cameo in the film
Ranbir Kapoor said that the character had completely changed when they revised the script of Jagga Jasoos, and that they had to cut the track featuring Govinda out.
Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's film Jagga Jasoos, which is to release very soon, cannot seem to escape controversy. Whether it is the delayed release, the need to re-shoot certain parts or the alleged inability of its leads to get along, the film has been bogged down several times.
In the past, the film created buzz when pictures of a scene where Govinda can be seen sharing screen space with Kapoor and Kaif went viral.
In this picture, Govinda looked almost unrecognisable with his long hair in braids and grown beard. The obvious deduction made was that he would be seen in a cameo role in this adventure musical, which was later confirmed as being incorrect.
Kapoor has accepted the blame for this decision. "Unfortunately, the entire track has been chopped off; it is our fault, Basu and mine. We had started this film prematurely, without a complete script. The character had completely changed, and the film was taking so long. It is very irresponsible, and very unfair to cast a great legend like Govinda and not do justice to his role. We are apologetic, but it is the best thing for the film so we had to cut that track out," he said, as quoted by DNA.
Previously, director Anurag Basu had clarified that he was not starring in the film, as his parts were taken out of the film following changes in the script. He accepted that they had shot together and thanked Govinda, but said that this had happened in the intial stages of the film. Ranbir Kapoor, too, said that it was their loss that he could not make it to the final cut.
At this point, Govinda had a different story to tell; he claimed that the makers of Jagga Jasoos were defaming him by not clarifying the matter. He added that he was not going to be part of the promotions but had finished his work for the film.
Then he took to Twitter to express his disappointment regarding this directorial decision. "I gave full respect to Kapoor family. I did the film because he (Ranbir) is my senior's son. I was told I will get the script. I was told they will narrate the film in South Africa and I didn't even charge my signing amount (and) made no contracts," he tweeted, adding, "I was unwell and on drips, but still I travelled to South Africa and did my shoot. There were various negative stories and negative articles only for Govinda and that's how the film was remembered for three years. I did my job as an actor and if the director is not happy it's completely his call."
Jagga Jasoos also stars Sayani Gupta, Karan Wahi and Saswata Chatterjee. It is scheduled to release on 14 July.
Mehdi Hassan's ghazal 'Mujhe Tum Nazar Se' and Pritam's 'Channa Mereya' are lessons in coping with a breakup with pride rather than hatred — towards either oneself or the other.
During their stay in New York, Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif went bowling, met with friends and also visited Priyanka Chopra’s popular Indian restaurant in the city.
In a career spanning almost a decade, Kaushal has some notable works to his credit. Popularly known for his roles in Uri: The Surgical Strike, Raazi, and Sardar Udham, Vicky has established himself as one of the leading actors in Bollywood.
