Daddy: Release of Arun Gawli biopic, starring Arjun Rampal, postponed

It looks like the release of Arjun Rampal’s film Daddy, which is a biopic of the gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, has been postponed by a few months. [caption id=“attachment_3775941” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Image via Facebook.[/caption] The film was set to release on 21 July, but the release date was pushed ahead at the request of Arun’s daughter Geeta, who is hopeful that her father will get parole in September 2017 and thus might be able to speak to the audience about the film, notes Indian Express. Gowli’s daughter Geeta said in a statement, “I am really excited to show the film to everyone and I felt it would be special and auspicious to have the film release when my daddy was out on parole.” Daddy is director and writer Ashim Ahluwalia’s passion project, and the film took three years to make and the Gawli family has been heavily involved in the making of the film. Daddy also features Farhan Akhtar and Aishwarya Rajesh as a part of its cast. Reports suggest that the film will span four decades and will be narrated from multiple perspectives. It marks the first time that Rampal will be acting in a biopic. Daddy will now release on 8 September instead of the original 21 July. Geeta Gawli also regards September as an auspicios time to release the film since the date falls during the Ganesh festival, which has been very close to Arun Gawli’s heart.
