Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming political thriller Sarkar 3 is a hit already, at least according to the self-proclaimed film reviewer and trade analyst, Kamal Rashid Khan. File Photo/Twitter[/caption] Apparently, Khan appreciated the trailer of Sarkar 3 and sent a message to the lead actor of the film, Amitabh Bachchan, declaring it a hit. Bachchan responded warmly and dubbed Khan as the ‘predictive barometer of the box office’. Khan was on cloud 9 and tweeted a screenshot of Bachchan’s message to blow his own trumpet. However, Bachchan, having been around for decades, clarified the context of his message to his followers. He replied to the tweet by stating that he sent this message in reference to Khan liking the trailer of Sarkar 3. Bachchan also hoped that given Khan’s track record of predicting box office hits, Sarkar 3 should also be one of them now. Ironically, back in 2013, the film fraternity approached the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWCE) asking for a complete ban on Khan, who has also appeared in films like Deshdrohi and Mohit Suri’s revenge drama Ek Villain. Khan has had a public altercation with Ajay Devgn, Dhanush and Rajinikanth.

However, Bachchan was rather polite to him. Interestingly, Khan appeared in the reality show Bigg Boss 3, which was hosted by Bachchan. Khan also boasts of a large number of followers on Twitter, owing to his unabashed and often irreverent remarks on films and film personalities while ‘reviewing them’. While the trailer of Sarkar 3 is not in the public domain yet, it is a long-awaited installment of a successful franchise that saw two past success in Sarkar and Sarkar Raj in 2005 and 2008 respectively. Sarkar 3 will mark Bachchan’s seventh collaboration with Varma. Their first was Sarkar and their most recent was yet another political thriller, Department, that released five years ago. Sarkar 3 also stars Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Yami Gautam and Amit Sadh. It is slated to release on 17 March.
