Sometimes, sequels to hit films come out in less than a year of the original film. But sometimes, especially when you are makers of films like Aksar, sequels mysteriously pop up more than a decade later. [caption id=“attachment_3746617” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]

Only this time the lead characters are different — this one stars Zareen Khan, Gautam Rode as the main protagonists. Mohit Madaan and Lillete Dubey also star in pivotal roles. The 15-second teaser trailer of the film is out, which sadly reveals nothing of the story, nor does it show us the lead characters. Instead there’s a digitalised font which asks the question, ‘How often…Do you…See the trap…’. Anant Mahadevan, the director of the first film, returns to direct the sequel. Though we don’t know what the plot of this film might be, since it is titled ‘Aksar 2’, it might follow/replicate the events of the first film. The fist film involved a love triangle between the lead protagonists: Udita Goswami and Dino Morea play a happily married couple — and Emraan Hashmi plays a man who gets embroiled in a blackmailing plot between the two. The film grossed around Rs
8 crore in box-office collections
when it was first released in 2006 and was
not very well received by the critics.
Mohit Madaan, who plays a character named Bachchan in the film told
Bollywood Life,
“It’s completely opposite to me and it was a challenge to perform this role (sic). With this film, I will get a chance to grow as an actor and keep doing good films ahead.” There is no date announced yet for the film’s release. Here, however, is the teaser:
