Big Star entertainment awards: Salman Khan, Nawazuddin nominated in the same category
The first annual popular awards nominations have arrived. And the Big Star Entertainment awards throw up some surprises but not necessarily in a nice way.
As expected it’s Deepika Padukone in Piku versus Kangana Ranaut in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, just as the two actresses were pitched against one another last year for Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela and Queen.
Though Kangana was a far more popular choice for last year’s awards Deepika walked away with some of them only because Kangana, like Aamir Khan, doesn’t attend awards functions.
To make up for last year’s absence Kangana has been nominated in two categories for best actress in the Big Star Entertainment awards, in the comedy and drama categories.
Could this be two nominations because Kangana plays a double role in Tanu Weds Manu Returns? Will Kangana change her mind and prefer to attend the award ceremony?
Kangana is not the only actress to get two nominations. Anushka Sharma is nominated for best actress in NH10 in the ‘Social’ and ‘Thriller’ category. How can NH10 be both a social drama and a thriller? Could this be an attempt to make sure everyone who attends goes home with a trophy?
Twisted logistics seems to be applied to nominations, what with Salman Khan's most accomplished performance to date in Bajrangi Bhaijaan getting a nomination for ‘Most Entertaining Actor In A Social Role’. Curiously Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also nominated for the same award in the same category. Does that mean Nawaz is as big as Salman Khan? The thought would not go down well with Salman’s fans.
Salman is also nominated for his performance in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, along with Sonam Kapoor, who has been nominated for ‘Most Entertaining Actress In A Drama Role’.
Let the games begin.
