Bhumi Pednekar on Sonchiriya: It's a true reflection of what society can do to human life

The Sonchiriya trailer is attracting considerable attention with many pleasantly surprised by Bhumi Pednekar and Sushant Singh Rajput’s performance. The actress felt liberated while working on the Abhishek Chaubey-directorial, she says. She also felt the depiction was quite appropriate to what was actually happening in the country. Talking to Indo Asian News Service, Bhumi said that the expectations from Sonchiriya were quite high. Image from Twiiter[/caption] “It was very liberating for me to be a part of this film as it’s a beautiful story of what society can do to human life and how they come victorious out of it. There’s a great reflection on what is happening in the country,’’ the actress added. Calling the film ‘hard-hitting’, she added that the film was relevant as well. Pednekar even said that the film had a few great performances which were honed with a lot of craft. Talking about her co-star Sushant, Bhumi said that working with equally passionate actors always made her excited and that they perfectly complimented each other’s performances. The film also features Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey and Ashutosh Rana in the lead roles. Sonchiriya is set in the 1970s in a small village with dacoits. Primary shooting has been done in Madhya Pradesh.
