Suffering from a respiratory tract infection, veteran actress Suchitra Sen’s health turned critical today, doctors attending to her said.

Kolkata: Suffering from a respiratory tract infection, veteran actress Suchitra Sen’s health turned critical today, doctors attending to her said.

Stating that the medical condition of the 82-year-old actress, admitted to a super-speciality hospital since 23 December, is fluctuating. According to the doctors, her condition worsened last night.

She was stated to be in a stable condition over the last few days but her old-age has complicated the matter and the doctors are being cautious due to diabetes.

Sen’s food intake has reduced making her weaker after which her dietary therapy was intensified, the bulletin said. “Although her cardiac condition continues to remain stable. Her oxygen saturation again dipped last evening. However, with intensive chest physiotherapy, it has stabilised again,” read a medical bulletin issued by Belle Vue Clinic.

Besides, a medical board led by critical care specialist Dr Subrata Maitra, Sen is also being seen by two pulmonologists on a daily basis.

Sen, who has kept herself away from the public eye for the last three decades starred in memorable Hindi and Bengali films like ‘Devdas’, ‘Aandhi’, ‘Saat Paake Bandha’, ‘Agnipariksha’, ‘Saptopadi’ and ‘Deep Jele Jai’.
