Madhuri Dixit today defended herself and other film personalities who who performed at the Saifai Mahotsav and said that as a celebrity she knows her responsibilities well. Following criticism over the event, the actress took to Twitter to say that Salman Khan’s NGO Being Human has already donated Rs 25 lakhs to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
The Saifai Mahotsav has been under a cloud with widespread criticism for the Samajwadi Party for holding such an event even while many of those affected by the Muzaffarnagar riots are still suffering. Many actors performed at the event which has become a major attraction for the people of the region. Last year, Hrithik Roshan had performed at the event. It is organised every year in memory of a late nephew of Mulayam Singh Yadav and is attended by film stars, politicians, corporate honchos, ministers and officials.
