Whoever voted, and even refused to vote for Moon Moon Sen in these polls, all shared one big curiosity. What is she going to do in the Parliament. The lucky few who managed to catch a glimpse of her during the televised Parliament session this year, knows one thing at least. She managed to put a lot of thought behind her look. On most days, when she was spotted that is, she was seen sporting horn-rimmed spectacles, her hair pulled back with a slim hair band. Geeky schoolgirl, did we hear? However, Times of India managed to catch up with her about her newest role - that of a MP. And what’s her take-away from her Lok Sabha stint? That she met her husband’s friend’s son. She met her long-time acquaintances like Hema Malini. She also heard ‘brilliant speeches’ by the likes of Jay Panda. And oh, she also got to buy pastries for daughters Raima and Riya from a famous Khan Market bakery shop. Now, who want a MP’s job? We’re guessing everyone! But I have become a fan of Prof Sugata Bose because of the speech he gave in Parliament. His mother, former Trinamool MP Krishna Bose, also went with him. She constantly guided us about where to go, as we invariably landed up in the wrong places,” TOI quotes Sen. Now, did she have anything to say about things, other than pastries, that MPs need to be worried about? Not really. Goes on to say a lot about Mamata Banerjee’s choice of candidates. While, you can’t blame her when Narendra Modi himself thought Hema Malini was worth being a MP, but nominating celebs like Sen shows how even successful leaders fall into the glamour trap. There is no record of Hema Malini having done anything worthwhile in her stint as a politician, same will apply for Sen, from the looks of it. But there’s always the argument that what have non-celeb MPs done for their electorates? At least, the likes of Sen makes the Parliament easy on people’s eyes!
