After earning just around Rs 2 crore in its opening weekend, Adah Sharma starrer Bastar: The Naxal Story crashed down on its first Monday as it raked in merely Rs lakhs. With this negligible collection, the hard-hitting human drama has turned out to be a disappointing and forgettable affair at the box office.

Talking about the review, Firstpost gave Bastar 3 stars and wrote, “The movie shows the heavy political undertones, which are not only complicated but also very hard-hitting and unpleasant. There are several scenes, which will make you feel uncomfortable. While the tussle between Maoists and CRPFs is shown most intriguingly and realistically, it would have been better, if the Maoists’ side were present in a more elaborate way. The scenes related to JNU will definitely evoke some extreme emotions from you. Filmmaker Sudipto Sen has made a hard-hitting cinema and kudos to him for attempting this subject and showing it in the most realistic way possible.”
