The first look teaser of Sudipto Sen and Vipul Shah’s highly awaited film ‘Bastar’ is finally out and is extremely raw and political, to say the least. Featuring actress Adah Sharma in the lead role of IPS Neerja Madhavan, the teaser shows her going all rebellious against the Naxals at any cost. Said to be based on the true events of the naxal attacks in Chhattisgarh, the film shooting began in October 2023 and was wrapped very quickly with a release date set in March 2024. As the teaser plays, it introduces Adah's character, standing inside an office with a soldier-at-war look. “Pakistan me huye humare chaar yuddho me humare 8738 jawan shahid huye. Lekin kya aapko pata hai humare desh ke andar Naxaliyo ne 15000 se zyada jawano ki hatya ki hai?” she says further making bold claims like a reputed institution like JNU celebrating after soldiers’ death and “leftists, liberals, pseudo-intellectuals” planning to divide India.
As Adah Sharma as IPS officer Neerja Madhavan launches a war against the Naxals, the teaser ends with a provocative statement as she is threatening to gun down the ‘pseudo-intellectuals’ and is even willing to be hanged for it. She can be seen dressed in khaki pants with a brown tee and a headscarf. The actress while sharing the teaser wrote, “A story colored red with the blood of innocent people! Capture the untold story… Bastar - The Naxal Story. Teaser out now!” About Bastar Backed by Vipul Shah, the film has been scripted by Amarnath Jha, Sudipto Sen, and Vipul Shah. Besides Adah Khan, the film also features actors like Indira Tiwari, Vijay Krishna, Yashpal Sharma, Raima Sen, and Shilpa Shukla in prominent roles. The film will have a worldwide release on 15 March 2024. Earlier speaking to India Today, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah said, “With Bastar: The Naxal Story, the journey to expose uncomfortable truths continues. After The Kerala Story, we are gearing up to expose another explosive story. It’s an honour to present this bold and honest film that will shake everyone to their core.” Notably, the film marks Adah’s reunion with Sudipto Sen after the ‘The Kerala Story,’
