The controversy surrounding Udta Punjab is never-ending. After Bollywood came out in full force to support the film at a press conference on Wednesday — Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, Satish Kaushik, Imitiaz Ali, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Ashoke Pandit, Vikas Bahl, Udta Punjab director Abhishek Chaubey, Ekta Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Madhu Manthena — celebrities and non-celebrities have taken to social media (and outside of it) to voice their opinions. Here’s a list: Aamir Khan backed Udta Punjab’s release and said that the ban was wrong, “I don’t think there is anything that should be cut or audience should be kept away…” Shyam Benegal, who heads the government-appointed censor board revamp committee and for whom Udta Punjab was specially screened, called it a “well-made film”. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan said that killing creativity would kill the soul.

Director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra preferred to not censor the film.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also took to Twitter to voice his opinion said that Punjab’s truth should be brought before the world.
पंजाब का युवा नशे से बर्बाद हो चुका है। पंजाब का सच तो दुनिया के सामने आना ही चाहिए।

Pahlaj Nihalani, who has been in the centre of the controversy, gave NDTV one of the most bizarre statements.
Pahlaj Nihalani to NDTV-If I will not be the CHAMCHA of my PM then will I be the CHAMCHA of Italy's PM ?

Former Chief Election Commissioner Dr SY Quraishi had an unusual solution to the problem.
Please watch Big Picture RS TV. My views on Punjab drug problem. Do make a film on the problem but don't use words like Punjab & drugs!
