Intially said to be a remake of 1978 hit Trishul, the trailer of Yash Raj Film’s latest release Aurangzeb was released on YouTube today, and if anything it seemed closer to Don. Featuring one-film-old Arjun Kapoor in a double role, the film is set in present day Gurgaon and gives us a glimpse into a blood feud between a family of cops and gangsters. [caption id=“attachment_684389” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Courtesy: Yashraj films[/caption] It’s a story of rivalry — good versus evil, the cops versus the corrupt real estate tycoon and in order to win, the cops have to beat the gangsters at their own game. In order to do so, they kidnap the tycoon’s son (Arjun Kapoor) and replace him with a lookalike. What happens after they make the switch is what this gritty action film is about. Arjun Kapoor seems to have nailed the gangster act perfectly — from the easy swagger to the evil laugh and Jackie Shroff looks sharp as the top boss of a real estate empire. Rishi Kapoor appears to be perfectly cast as the leader of the cops and making a rare appearance after a long time is actress Amrita Singh. The film also features Malayalam actor Prithviraj, who was last seen in Aaiyya, and Sikander Kher. Directed by Atul Sabharwal and produced by Aditya Chopra, Aurangzeb also marks the debut of yesteryear actress Salma Agha’s daughter Sasha. Aurangzeb is one of three films Kapoor is making with YRF. The first was his debut film Ishaqzaade and the third film will be the under production Gunday in which he stars along with Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh. Aurangzeb is set to release on 17 May.
