Shark Tank India fame Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain have once again embroiled the controversies as they have reportedly been denied permission to travel to the United Kingdom. A report published by Pinkvilla suggested that Ashneer and his wife were invited to visit the London School of Economics (LSE) as guest lecturers. However, the Delhi Police rejected their request.
Reportedly, Ashneer and Madhuri sought permission from the investigation officer of the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to travel to the UK from March 9 to March 15 to serve as guest lecturers in LSE. The entertainment portal quoted a source as saying, “After reviewing their representation, the investigation officer denied the permission.”
Reacting to the same, Ashneer informed Indian Express, “Correspondence between me and EOW is confidential and as per court’s directives… I will continue to cooperate with the police in this open-and-shut case and keep winning in Court. I’ve not got any correspondence regarding the travel permission (which is a confidential correspondence) as yet from EOW.”
This is not the first time Ashneer has been prevented from travelling abroad. Earlier in November, the Shark Tank India judge was stopped at the Indira Gandhi International Airport when he was on his way to the United States. This came after a Look-out Circular (LOC) was reportedly issued against them on November 6. In response, the couple, seeking to quash the LOC issued against them, approached the Delhi High Court.
Before the circular was issued, the EOW had registered an FIR last year against the former managing director of BharatPe and his wife for alleged misappropriation of funds.
Ashneer Grover rose to popularity after he appeared as a judge on Shark Tank India season one. His straightforward approach while interacting with pitchers grabbed everyone’s attention. In several episodes of the show, he was also seen scolding several pitchers. Following the controversy around him and his wife, the entrepreneur was replaced by the co-founder of CarDekho, Amit Jain.
