What Aamir Khan said

I’ve never spoken about this until today. Maybe this is the first time I’m saying it. And the reason is that many years have passed. And secondly, the person I’m going to talk about has already spoken about this publicly. So now I can talk about it openly. I’m talking about Junaid – my son Junaid.

t’s been 17–18 years since that film was released, and I’ve never said this until now: Junaid is dyslexic. So when I first heard the story (of Taare Zameen Par), it hit me so hard – because I’ve been through it myself. I was like Nandkishore Awasthi in the beginning (the father from Taare Zameen Par). I used to scold Junaid.

What is dyslexia?

This is a learning disorder characterized by difficulty reading. Dyslexia occurs in children with normal vision and intelligence. Symptoms include late talking, learning new words slowly, a delay in learning to read and delayed speech.

Actors who have this disease

Shekhar Kapur:

The filmmaker once said, “Lessons of Life: I’m completely dyslexic. And finding more and more artists, poets musicians suffer from dyslexia too. Are you? With #AI I’ve developed a love for visual mathematics, but in school developed a hatred for Maths… of course! With #dyslexia, numbers made little sense.”

Abhishek Bachchan: The actor also confessed he had dyslexia and had difficulties in reading in his early days.

Hrithik Roshan: The Krrish 3 star experienced reading and spelling difficulties as a child, which are frequently linked to dyslexia. He experienced challenges at school that many people with learning disabilities might identify with.

Hollywood star Tom Cruise once said in an interview, “When I was about 7 years old, I had been labeled dyslexic. I’d try to concentrate on what I was reading, then I’d get to the end of the page and have very little memory of anything I’d read.”

Jennifer Aniston: The Hollywood actress also confessed in an interview about her disease and was quoted saying “The only reason I knew [that I had it] was because I went to get a prescription for glasses … I had to read a paragraph, and they gave me a quiz, gave me 10 questions based on what I’d just read, and I think I got three right.”
