The first
teaser trailer
of Disney’s screen adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s sci-fi fantasy series Artemis Fowl has dropped. Based on the first novel of the series, which consists of eight novels published over the course of 11 years, the film is based on Artemis Fowl, a 12-year-old mastermind from a family of criminal geniuses. YouTube screengrab[/caption] Directed by Kenneth Branaghm the film will follow Fowl (played by Ferdia Shaw) as he comes face to face with a mysterious race of fairies with elf-like ears that may be behind his father’s disappearance. When he kidnaps one such a fairy, whose glimpse we see in the trailer, to rob her magical powers to save his family from the other powers that be, he is unaware of their the dangers the creature exposes him too. The fantasy film first got into production in 2001, just when the first book from the series was published. However, the project kept getting circulated between several studios before Disney stepped in and took charge along with Branaghm. Artemis Fowl also stars Lara McDonnell, Tamara Smart, Nonzo Anozie, with Josh Gad and Judi Dench. The film is scheduled to hit US theatres on 9 August, 2019.
