Arshad Warsi supports Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal', says 'I like porn but…'

Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal is still the talk of the town despite being in cinemas for more than three weeks. Arshad Warsi, who gave an impressive performance in Asur 2, was talking about the recent blockbuster in the actors round table of Bollywood Hungama and said you can like something and still choose not to do it. He said, “There are things that we like to see but not do. Animal would come in that bracket. For instance, when Indra Kumar called me to do Grand Masti, I don’t like those kind of films. I don’t like sex comedies. I don’t mind watching it, it’s funny but I don’t want to do it. So, as an audience I like to see it, but as an actor I don’t want to do it. I like porn but I don’t want to do it." He added, “All the serious actors may hate the film ( Animal ), but I love the film. It was like the male version of Kill Bill. My whole point of view is different, I look at films as complete entertainment and when you go to theatre this is what you want to watch. I don’t want to think too hard, don’t teach me, don’t give me lessons, I learned it in school." _Animal_ has turned out to be a monstrous blockbuster at the box office. However, the film has garnered polarising views due to showcasing toxic masculinity in the action-drama. There were many problematic lines in the movie including one where Ranbir’s character tells Rashmika Mandanna aka Gitanjali that she has got a ‘big pelvis’ and can accommodate healthy babies. Now, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has explained the idea behind this line and called it a compliment. “I thought that was a compliment. I never thought…how you found it ugly,” he said while talking to Galatta Plus. He added, “So how should I say that I am seeing my future with you? I want to marry you. I thought in these situations boys behave very differently sometimes. Your intention is something else but you end up saying something else. So, he didn’t know what to say. This was the brief given to Ranbir also. Suddenly he doesn’t know what to say and he says Gitanjali got a big pelvis. He is giving a reason that I’m seeing a future with you that we’ll get married and have babies.”
