Last month, music composer AR Rahman invited audience suggestions for the rehashed lyrics of his landmark song Take It Easy Urvashi as a measure to crowdfund lyrics for the new version of the song.

The original was featured in S Shankar’s 1994 Tamil romantic thriller Kandhalan . It saw choreographer-cum-filmmaker Prabhudeva and a host of back dancers shake to the tunes of all sorts of lemons that life throws at us. While the chorus was a call for empathy in untoward situations and predicaments, the chorus pushed one to ’take it easy.'

The dukhdas or whining in that song ranged from failing in an exam to working on a Sunday and from having an aged woman sitting besides you in the bus to facing a power failure during the screening of an entertaining film. However, that was 1994.

23 years down the lane, the world has changed and so have its problems. Though some remain evergreen, there was ample scope for some creative additions to the list. Thus, Rahman took the call to rehash the song and who better than the commoners to ask for suggestions.

However, he requested them to avoid problems pertaining to the current political situations like the demonetisation effect and Donald Trump electoral victory in the race to the White House. The New Indian Express reports that there were over 900 suggestions ranging from breaking of windowpanes at the Chennai airport to a Facebook friend request getting rejected.

Now, The Quint reports that Rahman has finalised the final four lines which are as follows:

Beltu Potoom Veshti Avundha’ (If you wear a belt and your veshti falls)

‘Helmet Potoom Mama Pidicha’ (If you wear a helmet and the cop catches you)

‘Kadalai Naduvil Battery Thirndal’ (If your battery gets over when you are flirting)

‘Kizhinja Panta Fashion Nu Sonna’ (If torn pants are said to be fashion)

We must say it’s not a bad list at all and will make for an entertaining and catchy song. Bring it on, Rahman!
