According to a  report  by The Indian Express, Kalpana Koneru, the producer of the film has bought the rights for the Telugu remake and he has reportedly offered Jyothika’s part to Shetty. Shetty has emerged to be an actor tailormade to anchor women-driven films and portray strong female characters. Her brief-yet-much-effective stint in the Baahubali saga as Devasena is still etched in the minds of cinephiles. Earlier, she has also done films like Rudhramadevi and Arundhati which were also centralised around her character.

Naachiyaar — that released in February — revolved around Jyothika’s character who gets into investigating a sexual harassment case and in turn opens up a pandora’s box.

The film was Jyothika’s first collaboration with director Bala and the cast included the likes of GV Prakash Kumar, Ivana and Rockline Venkatesh to name a few who were seen in pivotal supporting parts.
