IPL 2025 will go down as one of the greatest events in the tournament history as Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched the trophy for the first time in 18 years. It’s also after a long time that IPL had a first-time winner. It was Virat Kohli’s moment as tears flew down even before the match ended.
But little did the team know their celebration would come to a screeching halt. Kohli and his team’s celebration at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was short-lived as a stampede that occurred outside claimed 11 lives. Social media is filled with rage, anger, and fury. And Anushka Sharma is heartbroken as she shared the team’s official statement on Instagram:
The stampede has reportedly injured as many as 47 people. One reaction said- “Maybe those fans were only distined to see rcb winning…” Another commented- “Plz Don’t blame RCB and players. And 💯 this is responsibility of state government.”
One more comment read- “We stand with you RCB and all, proper management was not done by the government.”
Another comment read- “At the end of the day you are responsible for your own life and the fact that people would put themselves and their children in such grave danger knowing anything could happen in immense crowd is diabolical to me. Blame govt or management all you want, at the end of the day it was just basic common sense which people lack and that costs them their life.”
One fan said, “Losing those 11 loyal fans feels like losing a part of our own family — their support meant everything.”
