Anubhav Sinha: That Tum Bin turned out to be a much-remembered film is an achievement

Mumbai: Anubhav Sinha, who made his directorial debut in 2001 with sleeper hit Tum Bin, said the film earned a great achievement in becoming most-remembered. “I have made six films and this is the seventh project. Honestly speaking, whether a film would be a box-office success or become a remembered film, both are different. My first film Tum Bin turned out to be a much-remembered film which is a big achievement,” he said at the trailer launch of its sequel Tum Bin 2. I approached Bhushan Kumar with the script and started shooting within the next three months,” he added. The Ra.One director said that while making Tum Bin 2, he missed legendary singer Jagjit Singh who crooned the emotional ghazal ‘Koi fariyaad’. This has also been recreated for the sequel. Remembering the singer Sinha said: “I was missing the entire star cast of Tum Bin and Jagjit Singhji. I did some music videos with him and we used to share a very close bonding. I miss him so much that even now I tweet about him why he left us so early. Because of him, I developed a love for ghazals and poetry.” Asked about how the film compared to the first, Anubhav said: “Making a sequel of Tum Bin has quite a bit of pressure. Recently I got a message on Twitter asking if the songs are as good as in the first movie. To which Ankit (Tiwari) replied that songs are definitely good but we didn’t try to make better than the first. There is pressure on all of us but instead of dealing with that, we gave our best.” While the prequel had Priyanshu Chatterjee, Himanshu Malik, Raqesh Vashisth and Sandali Sinha, Tum Bin 2 will see Neha Sharma on big screen as the only female lead. The film, which also marks the debut of two newcomers Aditya Seal and Aashim Gulati, is expected to hit theatres on 18 November.
