Animal: Is Ranbir Kapoor the biggest star of this generation?

The heartthrob of the nation, Ranbir Kapoor entered the entertainment industry in 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. Since then he has bowled us over with his impeccable and memorable performances. Undoubtedly, there are hits and misses in his filmography, but one can’t deny his wide range of acting, which he has shown in his 16 years of journey. Right from playing charming boy-next-door characters in Bachna Ae Haseeno, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Anjaana Anjaani and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar to impressing the audience with his grey shade in Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti. The handsome hunk is currently gearing up for the release of _Animal_, which till date is his most commercial avatar on the silver screen. In fact, his portrayal in this action-thriller has created humongous curiosity even in the southern part of the country as the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial is now expected to shatter records left, right and centre.

In fact, during the Hyderabad pre-release event of Animal, Prince of Tollywood, Mahesh Babu said, “I’m a huge Ranbir Kapoor fan, and he’s the best actor we have in India. I have a feeling Animal would be his best work to date.” Filmmaker SS Rajamouli known for making historic blockbusters like RRR, Baahubali franchise, Eega and others, also said at the event, “Without hesitation, I’ll tell you, my favorite actor is Ranbir Kapoor.” Words from trade experts Film exhibitor and trade expert Akshaye Rathi, who expects Animal to set new benchmarks at the box office, said, “Ranbir Kapoor, I truly believe is the biggest superstar of his generation and I truly believe that his charm, his acting chops, his looks, his abilities as a performer will make him attractive to the audience across the length and breadth of the country and it’s only about putting in the consistent efforts to win over the audience from the South and it’s only a matter of time before you’ll do that with Ilan.” On the other hand, prominent trade expert Ramesh Bala said, “Ranbir Kapoor is certainly like a big star in this generation. See, basically, if we look at it, it’s Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Those are the two guys who have a lot of star power. And obviously, Ranveer has done some cop movies like Simmba and stuff. So he has established some mass potential. Now, I think with Animal, Ranbir Kapoor himself has said it is his first mass movie. So if this movie does well, certainly it will open the door for him in the South being a mass belt. So, certainly, he is a very good actor. He has always established his acting from day one from Saawariya. So I think, certainly, a lot of good things should come for him and he should do well in the future.” Talking about Animal, the massy action-thriller also features Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri in prominent roles. It is set to hit the screens this Friday.
