Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor came together for the 2023 blockbuster Animal. It not only became the biggest hit of Ranbir but also gave him a new lease of life since he began shooting for this action thriller only months after his Shamshera bombed.
And speaking at FICCI frames, Anil Kapoor recalled the conversation he had with his on-screen son and he said, “I remember that when I was shooting on the sets of Animal. Ranbir came there, and his film Shamshera had just been released. He was very down, and he came and said, “Everyone is looking at me. I have delivered such a big flop.) I told him, ‘Ek acha shot dete hai, kal tak bhul jayega. (Let’s just give it a good shot. You’ll forget everything by tomorrow).”
He added, “We were doing a photoshoot, and I told him, ‘Don’t take it to heart, man.’ You’re just imagining that people are looking at you or thinking about your flop. Success and failure are not in your hand; once you have accepted what happened, once you are doing honest work, you forget about it all. That is what happened, and by the next day we were jamming and discussing things with the director.”

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, which turned out to be one of the biggest grossers in the history of Indian cinema, garnered criticism from a section of audience along with celebs like Javed Akhtar, Swanand Kirkire, Kangana and others.
Now, the lead star finally opened up about the criticism and said that some people were disappointed of him. “Social media played havoc. They need something to talk about, so they really went to town claiming it was a misogynistic film. What happens is that the hard work that you put in… I know the director had made Kabir Singh, which also faced the same thing, the hard work gets diminished.”
