Angamaly Diaries star Sarath joins the cast of Mani Ratnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam

Sarath made his cinematic debut with Lijo Jose Pellissery’s widely popular and critically-acclaimed film Angamaly Diaries, in which he played a character called Appani Ravi. The film went on to impress critics and audiences alike, not just domestically but also at international film festivals. Sarath was also seen matching steps with his co-stars in the runaway hit number ‘Jimikki Kammal’ from Mohanlal’s Velipadinte Pusthakam. Having recently wrapped up shooting for his maiden Tamil film Sandakozhi 2, in which he plays a negative character, Sarath is on cloud nine to have landed a pivotal role in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Tamil multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which also stars Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Arun Vijay, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajesh among others. We commence shooting from March and I’m really looking forward to share screen space with so many talented artists.” Unwilling to reveal more information about the role, Sarath said it’s too early to talk about his character. In Vishal’s Sandakozhi 2, he plays a strong negative role. “They called me when the project was almost complete. It’s a very interesting project,” he said, confirming he has signed another Tamil film. “This is a yet-untitled project and I feel it’s best to talk about it after the makers make an announcement.” In Malayalam, he’ll next been seen in Mohanlal’s Odiyan and Contessa, in which he plays the lead. The industry grapevine is that Sethupathi will be seen as a cop and he’s playing more than just an extended cameo. Being bankrolled by Madras Talkies and to be distributed by Lyca Productions, the film has music by A.R. Rahman and cinematography by Santosh Shivan, who has teamed up with Ratnam for the sixth time.
