Amid Ranveer Allahbadia’s distasteful ‘parents’ sex’ joke at Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent, Kapil Sharma’s old comment from one of the episodes of Comedy Nights With Kapil has surfaced online.
In that episode, Kapil was seen talking about two things Indians love, which are cricket and films. He joked how children who are ready to wake up even at 4 am to watch a cricket match. “Cricket ka match shuru hona that 4 baje, aur phir yeh ma baa ki kabaddi dekh ke so jaate hai (the match is to start from 4 am, so they watch their parents’ kabaddi and sleep)," Kapil made a joke on this context.
After this clip surfaced online, several netizens shared their reaction to it. While some expressed their disappointment, some backed Kapil Sharma.
“Kapil is witty and smart. Kabaddi could very well mean a fight between the parents. Kapil cracked a joke and left it to the audience’s interpretation. Ranveer capitalised, enunciated and underlined a bad joke in the name of dank comedy, just to project that he’s cool," one Reddit user wrote.
“Tbh.. We’ve got no problem with these kinds of jokes.. But still these wanna be cool keeds are ready to defend this.. This generation is going to be doomed.. they’ve got no opinions.. India’s tryna go back to the Medieval period without a time machine lmao..,” wrote another fan.
“It definetely has something to do with the OTT companies , I was just watching the ind vs eng match on hotstar and there are ads of shows hosted by Zakir and Rahul Dua , and even Netflix has similar shows , they were probably waiting for any chance they got to bring Samay down and this just provided them that moment. They dont want an independent creator who is outdoing them,” commented another user.
In the latest episode of India’s Got Latent , Ranveer Allahbadia sparked outrage when he posed a joke, “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?"
After the controversy, Samay deleted all the videos from his channel and wrote, “Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all ‘India’s Got Latent’ videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
