While Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s Netflix film Nadaaniyan garnered severe criticism for its performances, storyline, and dialogues, Mahima Chaudhry, who played a supporting role in the rom-com, compared it with Ranbir Kapoor’s starrer Animal.
When asked about the negative reviews Nadaaniyan getting, Mahima, who appeared at the IIFA 2025 in Jaipur last weekend, told DNA, “The negative reviews are okay. The audience is divided. Whether it was Animal or any other film in the past, they were criticised. Some people like real cinema, some like make-believe. I sometimes wanted to watch real cinema. Sometimes I want to watch something easy. It will always be divided.”
When asked about her colleagues and friends’ reactions after watching the movie, she replied, “After the film released, I called a few of my all my friends and close ones, and the majority of people have told me ‘We’ve already watched.’ I’ve been receiving lots of love and positive messages on my DM.”
Directed by Shauna Gautam, the film also features Suniel Shetty, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj in key roles.
Talking about the review, Firstpost gave 1.5 stars to Nadaaniyan and wrote, “Someone once rightly said even when you are a star kid it doesn’t really help if you don’t have the talent, that actually applies for Khushi Kapoor. With her expressionless face and frozen smile, she fails yet again. Learning how to act is hard work; it’s a craft and one needs to give their blood and sweat to make it big, it cannot be as easy as a little nip here and a little tuck there. As for Ibrahim, I still feel he has the potential to do well under a good director. First love is like a flame that never extinguishes, but Nadaaniyan is easily forgettable!”
