Chennai: South Indian actress Amala Paul and her director-husband A Vijay alias Vijay Anand on Saturday approached a family court here seeking divorce by mutual consent. Image courtesy: Facebook[/caption] They appeared before principal family court judge Maria Clete and filed a petition for divorce by mutual consent under Section 13(b) of the Hindu Marriage Act. They were directed to approach the court registry for completing formalities. The six-month statutory judicial separation period starts for the couple from Saturday, at the end of which a divorce by mutual consent will be given. The couple has made it clear that there is no demand for maintenance or permanent alimony from either side. The couple got married on 12 June, 2014, and according to them, they are living separately since 3 March, 2015. Amala Paul had made her debut in the Tamil film industry with Veerasekaran and went on to co-star with top actors like Vikram and Vijay in Deiva Thirumagal and Thalaivaa respectively. Both the films were directed by Vijay.
