AIB didn't follow approved script for Knockout: Police sources

If reports are to be believed, All India Bakchod’s troubles are not ending any time soon. DNA recently quoted a police sources saying that the script AIB submitted to the Maharashtra Stage Performance Scrutiny Board (MSPSB) isn’t the one that was enacted on stage during the show. [caption id=“attachment_2080813” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Courtesy: Facebook Courtesy: Facebook[/caption] Mumbai police has already asked the comedy collective to submit their original, unedited script so that they can tally it with the enacted show and check for differences. MSPSB apparently gives permission for stage performances only after checking the script for content that might hurt religious sentiments. Reportedly, 14 permissions have to be acquired before putting up a stage show, all of which the organisers of AIB Knockout got before the show. However, now the charge against AIB is that the script changed during the live performance. It’s worth noting that most live performances, ranging from Hindustani classical music to plays, often have improvised additions that are not in the scripts that are submitted for approval. When asked to comment on the controversy surrounding the show, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said his government would act against organisers of the controversial comedy show if it had violated any law. “If the programme was vulgar and was in violation of law, then action will be taken against the organisers,” Fadnavis had told reporters in Kolhapur. Maharashtra Culture Minister Vinod Tawde had also said the government has no intention of “moral policing.” If the claims of the police are accurate and AIB did enact a different script from the one that was submitted to MSPSB, then team AIB – Gursimran Khamba, Tanmay Bhat, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya– may actually find themselves on the wrong side of a legal technicality.
