After Kangana Ranaut, veteran actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher has reacted to the ongoing controversy of Diljit Dosanjh working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3, which faced a ban during its release.

While it sparked a debate on artistic freedom and nationalism, Kher shared a personal perspective on the situation.

“It’s his fundamental right. He has full freedom to exercise his right and he should be given freedom to exercise it. I can say from my point of view that maybe I wouldn’t do what he did," the Tanvi The Great director told while talking to NDTV.

“I’d say, ‘You slapped my father but you sing very well, you play very good tabla, so you come and perform at my house’. But I wouldn’t be able to do that. I am not that great," the veteran actor conveyed his point by drawing a parallel between national loyalty and familial love.

“I won’t hit him back, but I won’t give him the right… The rule that I practice at my home, I practice in my country. I am not that great that I could see my family get hit or see my sister’s sindoor get destroyed for art. Those who can do so, they have all the freedom," Kher added.

On the professional front, Anupam Kher is gearing up for the release of his directorial Tanvi The Great, which is releasing this Friday (18 July). Apart from him, the movie also features Shubhangi Dutt, Pallavi Joshi, Boman Irani, Arvind Swami, Karan Tacker, Nassar, Iain Glen and Jackie Shroff among others in prominent roles.
