Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had been granted protection over her personality rights by the Delhi High Court recently. As per this ruling, the unauthorised commercial use of her name, image, voice, or other attributes will violate her right to live with dignity.
“Balance of convenience lies in favour of the plaintiff and if an injunction is not granted in the present case, it will lead to an irreparable loss/harm to the plaintiff and her family, not only financially, but also with respect to her right to live with dignity,” the court said for the _Devdas_ actress.
Abhishek Bachchan followed suit soon. Justice Tejas Karia said in his judgement for the actor, “These attributes are linked to the plaintiff’s professional work and associations in the course of his career. The unauthorised use of such attributes has the effect of diluting the goodwill and reputation associated with him.”
The next one to do so is filmmaker Karan Johar, who has also moved Delhi HC.
For the filmmaker, the verdict by the Delhi High Court restricts people from selling merchandises under his name.
What is body dysmorphia that Karan Johar is suffering from?
According to reports published in Indian Express, filmmaker Karan Johar recently opened up about his life-long struggles with self-loathing and being uncomfortable in his own skin.
Karan Johar said, “I have body dysmorphia, I am very awkward getting into a pool. I don’t know how to do it without feeling pathetic. I’ve tried very hard to overcome it. No matter what the success you achieve, no matter who you think you are in your own head, I’m always in oversized clothes. Even if I lose the weight, and I try very hard, I’m always battling with it, but I’m always feeling I’m fat. So I don’t want you to see any part of my body.”
