Former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had a face-off with popular Bollywood singer Adnan Sami over the latter’s show at the Dal Lake in Srinagar on Saturday. It all started with Abdullah taking a dig at Sami’s concert saying that the seats were empty and the show was past its scheduled start time. And then what followed was a bombardment of brickbats, from both the sides. Here it goes:
That’s a real pity. I hope people have filled those seats now. For an evening they can let the music transport them to a more peaceful place https://t.co/4DJJNFCfQG

According to a Hindustan Times report, Sami had performed at the SKICC lawns. He commenced the musical evening with his popular song ‘Mai Sirf Tera Mehboob’ from the 2001 film Ajnabee. Sami also spoke about his “deep connection” with the valley. “Not only because my mother is from Jammu but I learned Hindustani classical from santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, who hails from Jammu as well. It was because of him that I could show the world that Hindustani classical can be played on piano as well,” said Sami to the audience, as per the _Hindustan Time_s report. The concert was reportedly organised by the state tourism department to improve the tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir. The Hindustan Times report states that the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, several ministers of the state government, senior civil administration and police officials were also present at the concert.
