Actor detained for interrogation in father's murder

Actor Anuj Tikku and two persons living as paying guests in his Mumbai residence have been detained by the police in connection with the murder of the actor’s father on Sunday. Arunkumar Tikku, a senior citizen, was found murdered and lying in a pool of blood in the actor’s Oshiwara flat. The Sr Tikku, who had multiple stab wounds on his abdomen was discovered by a resident and watchman of the Samarth Angan building in a western suburb of the city. “When the cops went there, doors of the flats were locked. One of the doors was broken open when Arunkumar was found murdered. A knife was also recovered from the spot,” said DK Rupwate, senior inspector at Oshiwara police station told NDTV. The Oshiwara police today detained the actor and  another person, Dhananjay Shinde, who is one of the paying guests at the flat. Earlier yesterday, Vijay Palande, another tenant was detained by the police in connection with the case according to the Mumbai Mirror. Palande, however, denied any involvement in the crime. The victim, a resident of Delhi, had come to Mumbai to settle a personal issue involving his son Anuj. According to the Mumbai Mirror, Arunkumar had come to Mumbai to take his son back to Delhi. On reaching the flat, he was surprised to see two men — Shinde and his unidentified friend — asleep in the flat, the paper said. Arunkumar then called up the security guards and threw the men out of the house. When Anuj learnt about this, he lost his temper and had a confrontation with his father, the Mumbai Mirror also reported. On Saturday evening, before the senior citizen was found dead, Anuj had left home for some work. Anup is a small time actor and has appeared in small roles in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and No One Killed Jessica, among others.
