A Gentleman: Sidharth Malhotra-Jacqueline Fernandez rock retro vibe in new song, 'Chandralekha'
Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez make the retro vibe of 'Chandralekha', the new song from A Gentleman, work
A new song from the Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez-starrer A Gentleman — titled 'Chandralekha' — was recently launched on 3 August and it makes for a refreshing listen, although it bears some of the hallmarks of a Dharma song.
'Chandralekha' is filmed on Malhotra and Fernandez at a karaoke party where the former takes on the mic and sets the ball rolling. What unfolds next is a lot of jazz movements that give the old Shammi Kapoor vibes, along with contemporary dance styles. Malhotra has gotten better and better in the dancing department since his debut and he matches steps with Fernandez with complete ease.
The song however gives a feeling of déjà vu because it sounds very similar to previous Dharma hits like 'Dil Khol Ke Let's Rock' from We Are Family (2011) and 'Aunty Ji' from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012).
Sung by Vishal Dadlani and Jonita Gandhi, 'Chandralekha' has been written by Vayu and composed by music composer duo Sachin-Jigar.
A Gentleman will see Malhotra in a double role for the first time, with Fernandez cast opposite him. The film has been directed by Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru and is slated to hit theatres on 25 August, 2017.
