A fascinating script like Social portrays the many aspects of social media: Priya Banerjee

Priya Banerjee, who was last seen in Jazbaa on the big screen, is now all set to take on the digital space. The actress plays the female lead in the ongoing digital series Social, alongside Naveen Kasturia, Rana Daggubati, Moin Khan and Abdul Razzaq. Presented by Viu, the digital thriller directed by Shashi Sudigala revolves around the lives of four individuals and their journey of solving the mystery of a missing girl. [caption id=“attachment_4073971” align=“alignnone” width=“825”] ![](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Pic-3-Priya-Banerjee-at-the-launch-of-Viu’s-digital-show-Social.jpg) Priya Banerjee at the launch of Viu’s digital show Social[/caption] Firstpost recently caught up with Priya Banerjee who plays Mira, the female lead of the show and here is what the actor had to say about the digital world, her role and coming back to the Telugu audience after two years. With Social, a digital series as your next project, do you think digital is the way forward? Digital is the way forward especially when our target viewers are accessing news and entertainment on the go. So it is exciting to make my debut on the platform with Viu and a fascinating script like Social that brings together experimental content portraying the many aspects of social media. I am playing an aspiring actress who knows what she wants in life and has what one needs to make it into the limelight. And digital is really big now. Big actors like Saif Ali Khan are doing them. Everything is digital and with big stars venturing out, it’s a better platform also right now. Tell us something about your character ‘Mira’ and how it contributes to the crux of Social. Mira is an aspiring actress. She is a very strong headed girl who knows her way around. If she wants something she knows how to get it. So in this series, she gets involved with an event, where there is a crime and kidnap that happens. Throughout Social, you’ll see different sides and shades of Mura. There is this side where she wants to help people out because she feels that social media is responsible for the mystery and that somewhere she is too. So my role helps Prithvi played by Naveen Kasturia and her friends. They become this group and venture out there and solve the mysteries that have been happening. The more you watch Social, the more you’ll know how the mystery unravels. How did you like working with Shashi, Naveen and others from the cast and crew? When I first met Shashi he seemed like the director who knew what he wants. A lot of times as a director it is very important to give your actor that space to do what you’re good at it. And Shashi gives you that space. He lets you improvise a lot. Naveen, me, Abdul and all of us are like family. We have been working for 3 weeks now and we are having fun most of the time. We have this great chemistry going on which works for the show.   The Social star is also gearing up for her upcoming Bollywood film 2016 The End alongside Divyendu Sharma, Kiku Sharda and Harshad Chopra, set to release in October 2017.
