The 71st National Film Awards announcement turned out to be nothing short of a dream come true for star performer Sanya Malhotra. The talented Bollywood actress saw three of her films – Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery, Jawan, Sam Bahadur and – win big at the prestigious awards this year. Kathal bagged the award for Best Hindi Film, while Sam Bahadur won Best Makeup, Best Costume Designer, and Best Feature Film for Promoting National, Social and Environmental Values. Jawan also brought laurels with Shah Rukh Khan being honoured for the film. Overjoyed with the recognition, Sanya took to social media to express her heartfelt gratitude to her teams and audiences for their love and support.
With her recent release Mrs and her powerful performance winning praises, Sanya Malhotra has once again proved that she is one of the most versatile and bankable actresses in content-driven cinema. Be it the satirical charm of Kathal, the intense drama of Sam Bahadur, or the action-packed spectacle of Jawan, she has showcased her remarkable range as a performer. Fans and industry peers have flooded social media with admiration for the actress, who will next be seen alongside Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Malhotra talked about her film Mrs, why her father apologized to her mother after watching it, why she would never want to relate to this character, and the opportunity of working with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan.
The actress revealed, “I think we had a very solid script in our hand. Our writer, Anu, and our director, Arati, they worked on the script for a year. They brought their own lived in experiences to make the film personal, and I think I had that. When I was preparing for it, I met and interviewed a lot of women to know where they were coming from, if they have faced similar challenges and struggles as Richa, which was really helpful. I think that helped me to make Richa’s character what she is on screen because I have seen it very up close and personal with the women around me who have been in these sort of situations, but I have never experienced it myself.”
