2.0 audio launch: AR Rahman's performance; Rajnikanth, Kamal Haasan reunion — all you need to know

An AR Rahman live performance in the presence of Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and possibly Kamal Haasan seems to be the highlight of the grand music launch of S Shankar’s mega-budget sci-fi thriller 2.0

Rahman will reportedly entertain a 12,000 crowd with the 20-minute set of his songs from 2.0 along with a 125-member symphony orchestra at Burj Park in Dubai this Friday.

United Arab Emirates Prime Minister Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has been sent an invitation to honour the music launch as the chief guest. Hassan, who will star in Indian 2, the sequel to Shankar’s 1996 blockbuster Indian, is likely to grace the event. The budget of this star-studded audio launch itself is believed to be not less than Rs 15 crore, as reported by Hindustan Times. The same report states that almost Rs 2 crore has been spent to set up giant LED screens at some of the famous shopping malls in Dubai. It will be a live telecast of the audio launch and around 1.5 lakh people will get the chance to witness the event.

2.0 also stars Amy Jackson and Adil Hussain. It is the sequel to Shankar's 2010 Tamil sci-fi entertainer Enthiraan. It is bankrolled by Lyca Productions and is slated to release this Republic Day on 26 January, 2018.
