Ajit Singh denies talks of RLD-SP tie-up

Amid reports that the RLD was looking at a possible post-poll tie-up with the Samajwadi Party, the party’s president Ajit Singh denied the reports saying that they were planted. Following exit polls indicating that Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP was leading the race to form the UP government, the RLD chief’s son Jayant Chaudhary was said to have broached talk of the possibility of a fresh tie-up with SP in Lucknow. According to a TOI report, an unnamed leader from the party was quoted as saying, “Our doors are open to the Samajwadi Party”. Those who have reported these stories have not spoken to me and is completed planted news,” he told CNN-IBN. Singh who is known to be a party hopper and for his political dalliances, was recently accused by the BJP of only being concerned for his son’s political career and not for the welfare of the Jats of UP. BJP president Nitin Gadkari had called Ajit Singh’s RLD a “taxi” which anyone could hire.
