Allahabad eatery sells politician thalis: Rs 90 for a Rahul, Rs 110 for a Modi

Scooch over, Modi chai and Rahul doodh – a whole meal’s a better social lubricant than milky tea. It makes for more engaging political charcha. At least that appears to be the logic a restaurant in Allahabad has employed in naming two distinct thaalis after Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi. The restaurant, located in Civil Lines, Allahabad, has a brand new spread in honour of the coming elections, titled “Mission Menu 2014’. As political gupshup everywhere gets more polarised, this little restaurant wants people to thrash out their differences over a full thaali meal, says Marathi newspaper Pudhaari . The management has told the newspaper it’s not supporting either party, and only wants to promote healthy debate, and healthy eating, of course. But the pricing may have given away their opinion of the political equations: The Rahul Gandhi Thaali costs Rs 90, you can enjoy the Narendra Modi Thaali for Rs 110.
