For the occasion, the official website of the Delhi’s chief election commissioner has released ‘Wake Up and Vote’, the state’s National Voter’s Day Song, an animation video, featuring music by a Delhi university college band. The score is a rip-off of the title track from the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer, Wake up Sid. Coinciding with the day, Rina Ray, chief electoral officer, writes in a note on the website that Delhi will also launch their initiative called Be Smart – Vote Smart on the website, which is entirely youth focused. The site launched in October 2011, is designed to incorporate, in the future, social media features where users can discuss and debate democracy and give feedback. Currently, it only offers a discussion Forum. The focus on youth, Ray explains in her editorial message, is decided by numbers. She writes, “… data in Delhi shows that out of the approximately 4,00,000 population which have yet to apply for enrollment, almost all are young people in the age group of 18 – 22 years.”
