Uber cab rape case: Victim to be cross-examined on Thursday

New Delhi: Hours after the Delhi High Court allowed the accused driver who is facing trial in the Uber cab rape case to recall 13 prosecution witnesses, a court here today said the victim will be cross-examined tomorrow. [caption id=“attachment_2135979” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Reuters](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/uber-1-reuters.jpg) Reuters[/caption] Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja summoned the 25-year-old woman, who had earlier testified as a witness in January, to be cross examined again by the counsel for accused Shiv Kumar Yadav. “In terms of the Delhi High Court order dated March 4, the case is now directed to be listed for cross examination of prosecution witness no. 2 (victim),” the judge said. The court also said that according to the order of the high court, cross examination of the witnesses would be carried out on a day-to-day basis and the counsel would not be given any adjournment on any ground whatsoever. The sessions court’s order came in compliance of the high court decision passed on an appeal filed by Yadav seeking to recall all the 28 prosecution witnesses to re-cross examine them in the case. The fast track court is currently hearing final arguments of the defence counsel and prosecution has already concluded its arguments. The prosecutor had earlier argued that the medical and forensic evidence have corroborated the woman’s testimony that she was raped allegedly by the Uber cab driver who had also tried to force her into unnatural sex. According to the prosecution, the incident took place on the night of December 5 last year when the victim, a finance executive working in Gurgaon, was heading back home. She had taken the taxi from Vasant Vihar to go to her house in Inderlok and the accused, after taking another route, allegedly raped her. Yadav was arrested on December 7 from Mathura. PTI
