New Delhi: A 25-year-old man working at the cab counter desk at the Indira Gandhi International airport was arrested for harassing and abusing a 23-year-old IT professional. Booked under Section 345 D of the IPC for stalking, the police said that this is one of the first cases under the new anti rape-law passed recently. According to Indian Express, the woman’s troubles began when she gave her name and contact number to the him as the ‘normal procedure’ for hiring a cab. She was travelling through Delhi to Ludhiana. Later, he allegedly called her 65 times and claimed that he has the “solution to all her problems.” “He would call me about 65 times a day, about 17 calls within a span of half an hour,” the woman, who works for an IT firm in Mumbai, was quoted as saying. Police officials say that the man identified as Usman, may have harassed several women in a similar manner.
