New Delhi: While the nation prays for quick recovery of Falak, the two-year-old underwent another surgery on Monday at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Outside the hospital, a search for Munni — believed to be Falak’s mother — is on. Today, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) is expected to question the father of the 14-year-old who brought a battered Falak to AIIMS. However, Delhi police claims to have established the chain of events which led to the present condition of the baby. This is how it happened, according to a report in The Times of India: Last September, Munni went to the house of one Laxmi in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area with Falak. On finding that Muni was in dire need of money, Laxmi gave her job of a maid in her house. After three weeks, Munni disappeared never to come back, leaving the child at the house. He further transferred her to his acquaintance, Raj Kumar, who was keen to keep her as his biological child suffers from a thyroid disorder. Raj Kumar hails from Bihar and owns two taxies which plies from IGI airport to various parts of the city. He lives with his wife in a rented apartment in Dwarka. But when Raj Kumar’s wife discovered his relationship with a teenager, she refused to keep the child in the family. According to an NDTV report, Rajkumar put the teenager and the baby girl in a guest house in Mahipalpur. NDTV reports. “On 13 January, he left for Mumbai. Investigations show that the teenager was the sole custodian of the child between 14 and 18 January. Sources claimed that others at the Mahipalpur guesthouse said Rajkumar had told them he had adopted the child and that she was healthy.” A police officer told the channel, “The teenager’s statements given to us and the child welfare committee suggest she had run out of patience with the child in these five days and had most probably physically harmed her.” The teenager who is in a juvenile home in Delhi, has been questioned by the CWC. Today, the police is expected to interrogate her father about the circumstances under which she escaped from her home around a year ago. The teenager had brought a battered Falak to AIIMS saying that the child had fallen off the bed while asleep. When the hospital found that the teenager’s version was not matching with the injuries on the bay’s body, they got suspicious and alerted the police.
