Delhi NRI murder case: Court remands 2 accused to police custody

New Delhi: Two out of the six accused, arrested in connection with the murder of Anmol Sarna, an NRI student, were on day remanded to two days police custody by a Delhi court. Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Wason sent Shivank Gambhir and Madhav Bhandari, friends of deceased Anmol, to police custody till September 19. Praneel and Ritham are stated to be friends of Anmol while Bali and Mishra were security guards at the house in south Delhi where the incident took place. According to police, Anmol was murdered after a scuffle at a party on September 13 night Anmol, who has completed his high school from New York, was supposed to return to Canada for further studies but on September 13 night he was enjoying a farewell party at Southpark Apartment in Kalkaji in south Delhi. The party had lasted till almost 12 and at 2:00 am Anmol’s body was discovered with a wound on his head, the police said. Earlier, police had said it was not yet clear what had led to Anmol’s death and further investigation was on. The police said the autopsy report confirmed Anmol suffered a blow on his head from a blunt object. Meanwhile, the police are yet to establish if the injury was due to a blow or accidental. While seeking two days’ custody for Shivank and Madhav, the police said the investigation is at an initial stage and the chain of the events has to be unearthed as to why the two went to Praneel’s flat and consumed drugs. “We have seized an electronic data from the spot, which has to be probed thoroughly as it may give us the clue about the flow of drugs in India through illegal channel, in which accused were involved,” the police said. It also said that there is a deep conspiracy in the murder of Anmol. PTI
