New Delhi: Delhi BJP today held protests in the city demanding immediate rollback of the recent hike in CNG prices and accused the Sheila Dikshit government of not being sensitive to the "sufferings" of the common man.
Hundreds of BJP workers protested against the hike at 14 prominent CNG stations in the capital and also launched a signature campaign in which over 20,000 vehicle owners participated and signed in favour of reduction in the prices.
Addressing protesters, party's state unit chief Vijender Gupta alleged that the Congress government does not belong to common man. "That is why the people are very much frustrated due to the anti-people policies of Delhi government and waiting to dislodge it as soon as possible," he said.
"Delhi is suffering due to the wrong policies of Delhi government of increasing CNG prices on very short intervals, but Sheila Dikshit is not at all concerned with the sufferings of the people of Delhi," he alleged.
Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra alleged that the government has made the life of common man "miserable" so that the poor run away from Delhi. The price of CNG has been hiked in the last one year
about Rs 6.35 per kg, he said.
Later, Gupta and hundreds of party workers courted arrest.
